FIRST Recovery Programs

FIRST at Blue Ridge offers comprehensive programs for men and women, tailored to meet their unique recovery needs. Our Long-Term Programs provide extended opportunities for personal growth and stability through peer-led therapeutic support, vocational training, and 12-step principles, while the Short-Term Programs deliver intensive, focused interventions for those requiring immediate assistance to regain control of their lives. For veterans, our Veterans Program addresses the specific challenges of living life after the military with Substance Use Disorders, offering clinical care, peer support, and resources to tackle substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions like PTSD. To support individuals on their journey to independence, our DAC Transitional Housing program provides safe, affordable living arrangements, bridging the gap between treatment and self-sufficiency. Together, these programs empower participants to build stable, healthy, and fulfilling lives in recovery.

Medical and Case Management

Our Medical and Program Case Management teams provide essential support to residents across all programs. Each program has a dedicated Program Case Manager to offer personalized care, assisting with legal matters such as court appointments, probation requirements, and documentation.

The Medical Case Management team oversees all programs, ensuring medications are managed and doctor’s appointments are scheduled as needed. While FIRST is not a medical facility, this team coordinates external healthcare services to meet residents’ medical needs.

On-campus counselors address mental health concerns, and referrals to outside physicians or specialists are arranged when necessary. Case managers also connect residents with vital social services, including housing, financial resources, and community programs, empowering them to build stable, independent lives.
